Tumbling
Tumbling
Tumbling is a mechanical process that changes the manufactured products surface finish and eliminates small imperfections, or burrs, that are created during the turning process.
Tumbling is suitable for the mechanical finishing of many small turned parts and involves rolling the products in a barrel (or tumbling). In some cases, an abrasive material is added to make the operation quicker.
Metal tumbling burnishes, deburrs, cleans, descales, polishes, dulls, or prepares the workpieces for further surface finishing or galvanic treatment.
It is a simple process, but one where the operator’s experience is essential. Performed automatically and quickly, this process must be carefully monitored to obtain a perfect item.
